Challenge

The largest natural gas supplierin Slovenia - Geoplin, which owns and operates a CHP plant of 890kWe nominal power and which, through energy contracts, supplies heat and electric energy to Sava Turizem – Zdravilišče Radenci, needed to upgrade their existing cogeneration system with an absorption cooling unit.

Solution

Participating in solution development, we defined the suitable capacity of the absorption cooling unit that exploits waste heat from the CHP plant during summer. We prepared the complete project documentation, supplied the equipment and carried out all installation works to accommodate the absorption cooling unit. The results of accommodating the absorption cooling unit are evident in the fact that the efficiency of the CHP plant increased by 20%, along with the total annual efficiency rising by 7%, plus a lower cost of cooling energy for the end user.
